Chocolate Pumpkin Cake

A friend brought a lot of pumpkins from her parents’ garden and asked me what she could do with them. I worked on it and created three different pumpkin cake recipes. This is one of them. You must know that in season (approximately from September to November) pumpkin is fresh and at a good price. There are several types of pumpkin. For this recipe, I selected the butternut one.

My pumpkin cake is light, easy, with only 3 ingredients and with little fat. I have added a touch of chocolate but it’s just as good because the pumpkin has a very sweet taste!

Pumpkin contains 90% water, very few calories, is low in carbohydrates and high in fiber. It is ideal for those who want to follow a diet for its satiating power. Pumpkin pulp has a high content of mucilage, a substance that softens and protects stomach mucosa. It is ideal for diabetics because it regulates blood sugar levels and has diuretic properties to prevent fluid retention.

Instructions to make Chocolate Pumpkin Cake

  1. Cut the pumpkin into pieces and cook it with the skin in the pressure cooker for 7 minutes.
  2. Once cooked, peel the pieces.
  3. Drain them, pressing with a fork to squeeze all the water and remove the seeds you find.
  4. Let the pumpkin cool for about 1 hour.
  5. Heat the oven to 225 ° C.
  6. Beat the eggs with the sugar until there is a smooth and well mixed batter
  7. Add the pumpkin and 200 ml cream and beat with mixer.
  8. Grease a container of about 23 cm and line with the baking paper.
  9. Add the mixture and bake in the oven for 30 minutes or prick it with a fine knife to check that it comes out dry.
  10. Let cool and unmold.
  11. Melt the chocolate and butter over a water bath and glaze the cake with it for a finishing touch.


  • 1.2 kg pumpkin (peeled 1kg)
  • 300g sugar
